PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
We camp everywhere, all the time. We go on canoeing, backpacking, provincial, and eventually bushcraft survival camping trips. Something we should've had before includes this Sawyer SP129 Water Filtration System, and for many good reasons. These include:
RARE FILTERATION CAPABILITIES:
This Sawyer filter is easily portable, and is a 0.1 absolute micron hollow fiber membrane inline water filter. This means it removes 99.99999% of bacteria and 99.9999% of protozoa, plus 100% of microplastics. Weighing just 3 ounces (85g), and able to filter up to 100,000 gallons of water, this not only saves you money and space, but it also reduces the weight of your gear.
VERSATILE OPTIONS:
There's many ways to filter/store water using this filter. These include drinking directly with the push/pull cap, squeezing the water through the filters and into bottles, attaching it to standard-thread water bottles (e.g. SmartWater bottles), or set it up inline with hydration packs or gravity kits (details in included user manual once filter is purchased). This filter includes a cleaning syringe (for backflowing to clean filter), inline adapter, straw, mesh storage/ hanging pouch, and maintenance guides.
DURABILITY:
It's expected to last 100,000 gallons, but if that doesn't quite happen to you, Sawyer guarantees a lifetime limited warranty on the filter. The pouches are reusable for hundreds of times, but if that doesn't happen either, there are replacement pouches available for purchasing separately.
MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS:
One simple thing that will preserve your filter is backflowing it after every trip you go on. This just takes 1 minute (each time), and preserves your filter and money. It's a simple, yet effective way to save your filter. All you need is the included syringe, and clean water (optional towel for letting filter dry). You start off by removing the push/pull sports cap on the filter, fill the syringe with the clean water, press the syringe firmly into where the cap went, and firmly push the plunger to send water backward through the filter (from clean side to dirty side). You will end up seeing water exiting from the dirty water input end (side with the squeeze pouch). It's recommended to backflush it 3–5 times (or until the flow improves, up to 10 times if need), while refilling the syringe as needed. If you're puting it in long-term storage, shake out excess water and let the filter air dry. Feel free to ask us about any questions you may have on the bottom-righ corner of our website, or on our YouTube channel, "The Local Explorers".
NOTE:
We are NOT sponsored, nor are we partnered with Sawyer. However, we appreciate their water filter technology, and want to share our advice & gear suggestions with you.
