The newest action camera we use is the GoPro HERO 12. Key features include:
 
UPGRADED VIDEO & PHOTO CAPABILITIES:
The HERO 12 Black captures 5.3K video at up to 60 frames per second and upgraded 27MP stills (over GoPro Hero 10). It supports multiple aspect ratios, including 16:9, 8:7, and even 9:16, allowing for verticle recording without needing additional mounting. 
 
HDR VIDEO:
The all-new HDR (High Dynamic Range) video enhances the camera's ability to handle scenes with varied lighting, preserving details in both highlights and shadows, while also enhancing the colors to match the way we see it.
 
STABILIZATION:
Equipped with HyperSmooth 6.0, the HERO 12 Black offers advanced image stabilization, ensuring smooth footage even in dynamic shooting conditions. However, in low light, it is recommended to use a light (like a bike light, headlamp, or GoPro Light Mod).
 
AUDIO SUPPORT:
The GoPro HERO 12 now supports wireless audio input from Bluetooth devices. This can be something as small as Apple AirPods, or even Dji Mic Mini or Mic 2 for cleaner and crisper audio quality.
 
BATTERY RUNTIME:
The HERO 12 offers significantly improved battery life over previous models (HERO 9, 10, & 11). How long? Up to 70 minutes of non-stop recording at top notch video quality (5.3K/60fps). We've found that conditions such as direct sun or extreme cold can affect the battery performance.
 
MOUNTING OPTIONS:
With the release of the GoPro HERO 12, there's been a release of needing GoPro thumbscrews and fingers. Now, as of the GoPro HERO 12 Black, any tripod or selfie stick with the standard tripod mount of 1/4-20 inch will be with your camera gear. This allows for easy mounting to tripods with standard threading, increasing the GoPro HERO 12's universality.
 
MAX LENS MOD 2.0:
For users seeking an ultra-wide perspective, the optional Max Lens Mod 2.0 offers a 177° field of view and supports resolutions up to 4K at 60fps, which is an upgrade to the Max Lens Mod with 2.7k 60fps at max resolution. This lens also enhances image stabilization and is more durable and scratch-resistant than the Max Lens Mod.
 
CONSIDERATIONS:
GPS Removal. The removal of GPS functionality may be a drawback for users who rely on location tracking for their footage, especially for FPV drone clips. But this allows for longer recording and less overheating to enhance the HERO 12's max performance.
